Nigeria have included Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor in a 50-man pool from which they will prosecute their 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The Villa striker is eligible to play for Nigeria through his Nigerian father, but is already a key part of England's Uner 21 set up and has also been named by England manager Fabio Capello in his latest squad.
It is not clear where the striker will plump for at senior level but sources close to Agbonlahor tell SuperSport Zone that England are top on his list.
Nigeria coach Amodu Shuaibu told reporters in Lagos on Thursday that it was time to usher in a new era for the Super Eagles in the wake of the morale-dampening performance in Ghana early this year.
"A performance like that brings down the morale of the players and it is our duty to ensure that we visit these players and boost their psyche in order to prepare them for the challenges ahead."
With club versus country battles looming in the future, Amodu stated that he had taken steps to minimise the potential flashpoints
"We have sent a very crowded programme of pur coming activities to the clubs so that they know in advance when we will need these players."
